My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over 2 years and we are desperate for a child. We would like to hire a surrogate who would carry our biological child but the rates the agencies want to charge are so astronomical that we will never be able to save that much money especially after having infertility treatments. I have no problem in compensating the woman who will carry my child as I know that this is a very special gift and I want to show my appreciation the only way that I can. However, we are not rich people and I don’t want to pay an agency, I would hire a private attorney. My question is, is it legal to advertise for this service in Pennsylvania? And I have been through alot of emotional turmoil so please do not add to it if you only have negative things to say about surrogacy. In response to one answerer, I AM willing to pay the "gestational carrier" I just don’t want to pay the greedy "baby brokers" who profit off of a devestated couple’s infertility.
