She learnt her trade from her grandmother who was a celebrated herbalist. When she passed on, Nalongo Balyewunya took up the trade. From the young age of 14, Balyewunya started dispensing all kinds of herbal concoctions to treat a wide range of ailments among them infertility. For every one hundred people that seek some form of treatment from Nalongo Balyewunya, at least thirty are looking for a child. Such is the paradox in Uganda that in the midst of plenty, cases of infertility are also high. So what is driving such figures?
