Urologist or Fertility Clinic?
My husband has severe male infertility mobility rate of 4%, motility rate of 13% , Volubility of 28%, sperm Concentration of 0.8% and sperm count of 1.9 million. His GP suggested we go straight to the fertility clinic while my gynecologist recommended a urologist. Should we go straight to a fertility clinic? Can severe male infertility be cured? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I have good news for you: Severe male factor is not hopeless. If there is ONE sperm alive and kickin’ in your husband, you can have his children. In that case though, you’ll need help from a male fertility specialist. Male fertility specialists are urologists who underwent the additional training in male fertility. Be careful and make sure he has that training because only 2% of board-certified urologists in the US can actually say this! Fertility clinics are not the right address since they concentrate mostly on female infertility. So, if you go to a fertility clinic first, they might want to do a bunch of expensive and (maybe unnecessary) tests with you (the woman) before they send your husband to a urologist. Assuming that you have no fertility issues, the treatment for your husband is usually cheaper. First, try to eliminate all the risk factors that can cause male factor such as alcohol, caffeine, hot tubs, etc. (http://www.malefertility.md/stay-healthy.html) Then examine your options for treatment. Best of luck to you and your husband.
it can’t be cured, but it can be dealt with.
Usually, the Fertility Clinic can recommend a Urologist if one is needed.
Do the clinic first, and then a Urologist if needed. The clinic is gonna be the greatest help to you two if you’re trying to have a kid.
Your husband has a FERTILITY problem not a UROLOGY problem. I have no idea why your gynocologist reccomended the urologist. That makes no sense to me. Urologists specialise in problems with the excertory system (bladder, kidneys, urethra etc). And the male reproductive system, but it’s not in a fertility way, more like making sure everything is perfectly fine.
I understand reccomending him to a urologist if your gyno thought that he could have a condition that was causing this and wanted him to get looked at. Which might be a good idea. However the fertility clinic would be able to check that as well and refer him to where he needs to be.
That’s the only thing I could think of, idk why the gyno would send him there.

Some urologists specialize in male fertility. Just make a couple of phone calls to your local urologist or fertility clinic. You’ll get the answers.
If you live in the Seattle area, I know a great doctor for you…
Good luck!
The only help I see from a urologist would be if there were some sort of blockage.
Who ran these particular tests anyhow?
